The 23-strong Africa Destiny Children’s choir went down a storm.
The different changes of colourful costumes (ending with all the cast aged from 19 years old down to 10 dancing in black academic gowns with colourful hoods)……. the extraordinarily skilful drumming…..the melodious singing led only by guitar and keyboard…..all this combined to give the 200 or so present an authentic Ugandan experience.
Here with us was just a handful of the 1.2 million children in Uganda orphaned through war and AIDS – but here was living proof of the power of the gospel to bring hope into situations of hopelessness.
The audience gave £965 towards the work of the Kampala Children’s Centre and a further £213 was spent on various East African artefacts on sale.
