The Manna House on Warrington Road, opposite Penketh Gardens, offers a place for young and old to meet and relax. The Manna House was originally opened as the village school in 1860 in memory of Margaret Gaskell who was killed in an accident at the age of eight in 1859. The school was closed in 1908 and since then the Manna House building has been used for many other purposes including a tea room and a meeting house.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, volunteers from the St Paul’s congregation open the building as a cafe serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and snacks to all.
On Mondays at 8pm we also hold card craft classes, a small and sociable group where you can come along, learn more about making cards and share your knowledge wth others.
The building is available for hire, both on a regular basis and for one off special occasions. It’s currently used by many local groups, including Weight Watchers and the Gardening club.
